Activate July 2025 Newsletter

Hello everyone,

As we settle into the cooler winter months, it’s often a time for reflection and looking inward. It’s also a perfect opportunity to think about our long-term health and the foundational strength that allows us to stay active and vibrant through all seasons of life. One of the most crucial, yet often overlooked, aspects of this foundation is our bone health, which is why I’m so passionate about sharing some new developments at the clinic with you.

As a physiotherapist, I have long been an advocate for issues around bone health for all ages, with a personal and special interest in research around exercise interventions. It’s incredibly exciting to be able to offer the ONERO programme at Activate Physio. Exercise Rehab. We now have a clinically-proven way to not just slow bone loss, but to build it back, and I am delighted to be able to guide our clients on this journey.

Introducing Onero: A New Approach to Bone Health

Osteoporosis is often called the ‘silent’ disease, because many people don’t know their bones are becoming weaker until they suffer a fracture. The statistics are stark: worldwide, one in three women and one in five men aged 50 years and over will suffer an osteoporotic fracture. This is why moving from awareness to active prevention is so critical.

In response to this, we are proud to be a licensed provider of the Onero programme. Developed by the Bone Clinic and based on the groundbreaking research of Belinda Beck from Griffith University, Onero is a specific exercise-based program to manage osteoporosis and osteopenia. It aims to increase bone density through carefully graded weightlifting exercises, targeted impact exercises, and balance challenges designed to prevent falls.

What makes Onero truly effective is that it must be delivered under close supervision by trained health professionals. At Activate Physiotherapy, this means every session is guided by a physiotherapist who understands your individual health conditions and can safely adapt the program for you, even if you have other concerns like knee osteoarthritis. This ensures you get the right intensity to stimulate your bones while exercising safely and without injury.

We have created a dedicated page on our website with more information about this revolutionary program.
