Answering Your Onero Questions

We understand that starting a new exercise program, especially one involving weights, can feel daunting. Here are a couple of key points we’ve been discussing with clients:

“What makes this different from going to a regular gym?” The key difference is the clinical supervision and evidence-based protocol. Onero is a prescribed medical intervention delivered by trained health professionals. Your physio understands how to adapt the program to your specific needs, manage any other health concerns you might have (like arthritis or back pain), and ensure the exercises are performed correctly to stimulate bone growth without risking injury.

“I’ve never lifted weights before. Is it safe?” Absolutely. In fact, Onero is specifically designed for people who may have no prior weightlifting experience. The program is not about lifting heavy for the sake of it; it’s about precise, targeted movements. Every session is fully supervised by a physiotherapist who will teach you the correct technique and ensure you are working at an intensity that is both safe and effective for you.

The Crucial First Step: Your Onero Initial Assessment

Before you can join a class, the first step is a comprehensive one-on-one Initial Assessment with one of our physiotherapists. This session is essential for your safety and success in the program.

During this 45-minute appointment, we will:

  • Discuss your medical history and bone health diagnosis (if you have one).
  • Conduct baseline tests to measure your current strength and balance.
  • Introduce you to the foundational lifting techniques in a safe, controlled environment.
  • Work with you to establish your goals and ensure the Onero program is the right fit for you.

This assessment allows us to create your personalised starting point, so when you join your first small-group class, you’ll feel confident and prepared. Read more detail on our website.
