Hello All!
Hi everyone,
Hi everyone,
It has been a busy start to the year at the studio, and it’s wonderful to see so many of you returning to your routines with fresh energy.
Our focus remains on providing you with the clinical expertise and movement strategies that help you feel your best. Whether you are working through a specific injury with our physiotherapy team or building strength in our Pilates and Onero sessions, we are here to support your progress every step of the way.
In this newsletter, we share a practical “30-second posture reset” to help combat the tension of desk work, along with updates on our growing team.
I am particularly excited to welcome our new physio, Momoko, to the clinic, and to share a glimpse into the spinal pathology research I am currently preparing for the Pilates Association Australia.
We believe that the more we understand the “why” behind movement, the better we can serve your long-term health. We look forward to seeing you in the studio soon!

Article: Taming the “Poke Neck”: A 30-Second Reset for Your Spine
Most of us spend our days collapsing into our desks. We’ve put together a 30-second postural reset you can do anywhere to “lift the heart” and find your height again.
Check out the fast guide on our site to learn the “Yes Nod” and how to breathe for a better spine.
Onero Update: Bone Health Q&A
Q: How do I get started with Onero?
A: All new participants require an initial assessment with Susie before classes start. This ensures the program is safely tailored to your specific bone density T-scores and physical history. The Current term started on the 19th January and goes till Mon 30 March. New clients are welcome to start at any time.
Q: How do I book my sessions?
A: Once Susie has cleared you for training, you can book via our admin staff in person, over the phone at (02) 9518 5009, via email at info@activatephysiopilates.au, or through our online booking portal.
Q: How do health fund rebates work for these classes?
A: You can pay casually on the day (using HICAPS) or purchase a package. For package holders, health funds require the specific dates of attendance to process a rebate. We can provide a statement at the end of your session block to facilitate this.
Activate News
Friday Flow with Lisa: Lisa has kicked off her Friday 12 noon Garuda Barre and Mat Stretch classes. It’s a beautiful way to wrap up the week—blending relaxation with rejuvenation (and the occasional challenge!).
Welcome Momoko: We are thrilled to introduce Momoko, the newest Physiotherapist to join our clinical team. Momoko brings a fresh perspective and a wealth of skill to the studio.
Clinical Care: Our physio team—Susie, Christy, and Momoko—are available for private sessions. We regularly liaise with GPs and specialists to provide co-ordinated care for low back pain, shoulder issues, and hip or knee pathology.
Delving Deeper into Lumbar Spine Pathology
I am currently preparing a presentation for the Pilates Association Australia (PAA) titled: Delving Deeper into Lumbar Spine Pathology: Case Studies for Therapeutic Pilates Instructors.
This talk focuses on bridging the gap between clinical diagnosis and movement-based rehabilitation. By examining real-world case studies, I’ll be helping instructors identify how specific spinal conditions—such as disc sequestrations or spondylolisthesis—respond to different mechanical loads within a Pilates environment.
The goal of this research is to refine how we use Therapeutic Pilates as a precise tool for spinal stability. For our clients at Activate, this means your programs are backed by the latest clinical reasoning. Understanding the “why” behind a pathology allows us to move beyond general exercise and create a pathway that promotes healing while avoiding the movements that aggravate sensitive spinal structures.
Until next time…
| If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us at the clinic or speak to your physiotherapist or experienced instructor at your next appointment. Warmly, Susie and the Team at Activate Physio. |
